Why do we learn? What motivates us and what discourages us? The Educational Research Institute – National Research Institute has just launched the latest edition of the ‘Adult Learning in Poland’ survey.
The ‘Adult Learning in Poland’ study will be conducted by experts from IBE PIB associated with the Integrated Qualifications System. We want to better understand what the adult learning process really looks like in Poland.
According to data, more than half of Poles acquire new knowledge and skills on their own, often using the internet, but also learning from others. Although such informal learning is very popular, we still know relatively little about it.
Support for future education policies
The study will examine how our learning habits are changing, especially in a world where remote working and online learning are becoming increasingly common. The IBE PIB research team will look at both the factors that promote learning and the obstacles that prevent us from learning. The results will help develop more effective solutions that will support the idea of lifelong learning.
The recommendations developed on the basis of the study will also support future education policies that will better respond to the needs of adult learners in Poland.
The study will involve 5,100 individuals from all over Poland between 18 to 69 years of age. Interviewers will begin their work in April, and the first results will be published in 2026. This is another important step in building knowledge about how and why we learn throughout our lives.
More information about the study is available on the Integrated Qualifications System website.
