The Educational Research Institute – National Research Institute, commissioned by the Ministry of Education, is launching the pilot of the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS). This is the fifth edition of the study, initiated and primarily organized by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA).
Teachers, academics, educators, local government officials – representatives of these groups, among others, were appointed on January 16 to the newly established National Education Commission Council for Monitoring the Implementation of Education Reform. “We want the ideas on how to change education to come from the teachers who will actually be implementing the reform; they’re not always close by and their voice has been neglected for many years,” stressed Dr. Tomasz Gajderowicz, Deputy Director of the Educational Research Institute – National Research Institute.
The Council of Ministers’ decree to this effect was signed by the Prime Minister on December 27, 2024, and came into effect with the beginning of 2025.
